Why should you contact a confidential advisor in the event of inappropriate behaviour?
The confidential advisors offer a trusted ear and a safe environment for sharing. They will listen, advise and work together with you towards a solution to the problem. Your issue will be treated confidentially in all circumstances and action will be taken only with your agreement to it. If you wish action to be taken, the confidential advisor explores with you whether and what kind of settlement between the two parties is possible.

When sexual harassment and violence unfortunately happens, it's crucial for victims to report incidents of sexual violence so they can receive the necessary support. The Sexual Assault Center offers assistance and can be contacted at 0800-0188 for immediate help. If you know someone affected by sexual violence, the guide from the Sexual Assault Center outlines the steps you can take to help them.
Maastricht University also offers sexual harassment and violence support through The Social Safety Team for Students. They are an independent body and you can share your story with them in confidence. The team can assist you with your concerns or problems, as well as with making a report or complaint. If you are struggling emotionally following an experience of sexual violence, you can contact a UM psychologist to talk and to access mental health support.
