Pieter Verbanck
My name is Pieter Verbanck and I'm honored to take on the responsibility of being Vectum’s 30th president. In the upcoming academic year, I will start my second year of my bachelor's and I'm eager to take on the responsibility of representing Vectum alongside my studies.
Many members consider Vectum to be like a family and a welcoming and enjoyable space where students from econometrics get together and have fun alongside their studies. The enjoyable Tuesday nights are an amazing way to interact with your fellow econometric students across all years, have a laugh, and meet new people. As president, I aim to continue growing Vectum and ensuring it continues as an enjoyable space for all members to find their place in Maastricht. Last year Vectum had an amazing year attracting many new members and growing and I hope with my fellow board members we can continue this growth throughout the year.
As president, it will be my responsibility to represent our association towards the university and the Department of Quantitative Economics (KE), as well as in our interactions with other associations in Maastricht and the Netherlands, in particular with SCOPE and the LOES. I look forward to working cooperatively with these associations in the best interest of the association and aim to represent Vectum and its members to the best of my ability alongside my board members to maintain the prestigious image Vectum has earned over the years.
This upcoming year we will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of Vectum, this huge milestone will include organizing the 6th edition of the LUSTRUM. It is my responsibility to oversee the planning and organization, to ensure we have an amazing event for all members and alumni to enjoy. We are forming an amazing committee consisting of some members and our current internal affairs coordinator who will take on the main responsibility of all the organization of this exciting celebration. We can't wait to see all the current members and alumni at the LUSTRUM to celebrate this amazing milestone together.
Furthermore, as president, I will also be responsible for the general well-being of the association. I specifically aim to create a comfortable and inspiring work environment for my fellow board members to ensure we provide another great and successful year for Vectum. I will oversee long-term goals and ensure that we, as an association, remain on track to meet any aims or objectives we set.
Overall, I am beyond grateful to be trusted with this position and have been given the opportunity to be part of the 30th board of Vectum. I’m beyond excited to take on this role and I will try to perform to the best of my abilities. I look forward to another exciting year with Vectum and can't wait to see all the remaining members after the summer.
